Royal is a cafe kabuli chickpea that has simple leaves and produces large seed. Royal is most similar to the cultivars Sierra and Sawyer. Results from multiple years of field evaluations Indicate that Royal has significantly higher canopy height and pod height than Sierra and Sawyer. Royal also has a significantly greater 100 seed weight than the Sierra and Sawyer. Royal is marketed as PVP Title V to be sold only by authorized licensees and as a class of certified seed only.
