Avondale lentil was developed by Dr. Rebecca McGee with the USDA-ARS and is made available to Montana producers by Montech Seed Group. It is an industry leading lentil for its market class. On average, Avondale consistently yields around 10% better than Richlea. It is a medium green (richlea type) lentil with excellent height and yield. It has excellent resistance to lodging and high levels of partial resistance to Stemphylium blight. Its seed coat is an unmottled green. Avondale is marketed as PVP Title V to be sold only by authorized licensees and as a class of certified seed only.
